- Research professor Petri Ruutu from the National Institute for Health and Welfare has been appointed by
the Society the Epidemiologist of the Year 2010. PhD Teemu Murtola from the University of Tampere is the Young Epidemiologist of the year 2010.

- In 2005 society appointed Professor Olli P. Miettinen from the McGill University, Montreal, to the first Honorary Member of the Society.
