Finnish Epidemiological Society

The aim of the Society is to promote epidemiological research and to function as a link between Finnish epidemiologists and scientists and authorities working in other fields. The Society supports its members by organizing occasions for discussion, presentations, and advanced training. The Society co-operates with other epidemiological and scientific associations on local and international levels. The Society can give expert opinions on epidemiological issues to authorities and other parties.
The Society was founded in 2000. At the end of year 2009 it had 150 members - medical scientists, statisticians and other scientists - from several universities and research institutes. Annual membership fee is 20 euros. The supporting membership is available for private companies and other organisations for an annual fee of 1000 euros. The Finnish Society of Epidemiology also appoint annually the Epidemiologist of the Year. In 2005 society also appointed first Honorary Member of the society.
